2011 Golf Scramble / Fundraiser Photos and Thank You
NORTHLAND HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS HIT THE LINKS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FOOD BANK
The Northland Human Resources Association's Seventh Annual Golf Scramble/Fundraiser was held on July 11, 2011 at the Proctor
Golf Club (in downtown Proctor, Minnesota). NHRA is an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) -- Thirty
players - a Tourney record - participated in this year's event. Seven team's took on the challenge of the par thirty three (33)
Proctor links. The weather was beautiful with temp's in the lower 80's and fairly low humidity...... a "Chamber of Commerce
day." The scores were very impressive as well!
|
Each year, the NHRA Board of Directors chooses a non profit in the region as a recipient of the tourney benefits.
Seven hole sponsors at $50 each (please see the list of employers and association's who sponsored holes below) helped in the
cause and had their name displayed at the golf course in recognition. Also, door prizes were contributed by friends and
affiliates of NHRA (again, refer to list below) and golfing participants bought raffle tickets for an opportunity to win these
prizes. The total funds contributed, that will be forwarded to Second Harvest Food Bank, was $800! Second Harvest Northern
Lakes Food Bank's mission is to feed Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin's hungry by rescuing and distributing
food and engaging our region in the fight against hunger. Second Harvest has already thanked the NHRA organization for the
generous donation. Second Harvest was also the recipient in 2010.
The winning team shot a score of 30. Two teams actually shot a 30 and the score cards had to be compared to
determine a winner. The winning team from Spherion Staffing Group included Captain Cindy Potts, Scott Lundberg, Blaine
Ballavance and Carl Ball. The Second Place team included Keith Anderson and Steve Korby of Enbridge Energy in Superior and Mark
Pendleton and Penny Youngberg from ME Global in Duluth. Winner of the men's long drive contest and the closest to the pin were
Blaine Ballavance and Scott Lundberg. The Long Drive for Women was won by Penny Youngberg. Mary Gummerson (McGladrey and a NHRA
Board Member) helped gather the fabulous and generous door prizes. Laurie Pinther (NHRA former President) paid the bills and
kept the financial records in order for this event.
All participants were thanked by Tournament Coordinator Steve Korby (NHRA Board
Member) for their support of this great--and growing--event. The Proctor Golf Club was also thanked for being an extremely
cooperative and generous host (and providing such great weather). The Eighth Annual event is scheduled for
3:00 pm on Monday,
July 9, 2012. Hope you can join us!
