Call to order 12:00 p.m.
Present:
Laurie Pinther, Wayne Lindberg, Terri McGillvrey, Wendy Sersha, Judy Aspling, Pam Grover, B'elana Aedan, Linda Olcott, Kathy Chalupsky, Patricia Stolee, Heather Duval, Steve Korby, Heather Turcotte

Review/Approve Minutes: January 2010:
Changes: Remove Susan as absent and the HRCI Certification study group starts in January (not February). With
these changes, the January 2010 meeting minutes were approved.

Treasurer's Report (Pam Grover):
- Review of PayPal, Savings Certificates, Checking balances.
- Annual dues invoices mailed in January. 49 members have paid.
- 2010 Budget: Add $2500 for revenue for state conference; add $500 expense for marketing supplies and
materials; add $1,000 expense for breakfast and membership drive.
- Financials and budget were approved.
College Relations (Heather Duval absent):
- Heather met with Jannifer David from UMD regarding partnership with NHRA.
- Heather will request a list of ideas for projects that a UMD student could help with. These will be posted online.
- Heather requested that if an NHRA member is willing to go to a UMD class to talk about their job, what they do in Human Resources, etc.,
to let her know.
- NHRA Scholarship is posted and the deadline is one week before the next board meeting. Heather suggested that the NHRA Scholarship
should be posted on the UMD website next year. This may change some of the formatting and/or guidelines.
- UMD requested volunteers for mock interviews.
Community Involvement (Steve Korby):
- We had 4 or 5 community events last year and the same is projected for 2010.
- 2010 NHRA golf fundraiser is scheduled for July 12 at Proctor.
Professional Development/Diversity (Linda Olcott):
- Programs Scheduled:

HRCI Certification (Kathy Chalupsky):
- Study group is meeting every week and it seems the new format is working well. There are currently 8 people in the study group.
- Kathy requested the approval to purchase a $25 gift card for a member of the study group who has been very helpful in the organization of
the study group. The board approved.
Membership & State Conference (B'elana Aedan; Heather Turcotte absent):
- B'elana and Heather are working on a survey of questions to ask when they meet with current, past, and potential members.
- B'elana and Heather will be talking with those people who have not renewed their membership.
- Heather is tracking membership on a month to month basis; membership increased in January.
Legislative and Government Affairs (Wayne Lindberg):
- Wayne participated in a government affairs conference call. Many issues are currently "up in the air".
Wayne is working with Larry Bougerie, State Council Legislative Director, to put together a SHRM Legislative visit.
Marketing (Patricia Stolee):
- NHRA board announcement was in the paper.
- The SHRM national conference will be put on the NHRA Website.
Workforce Readiness (Judy Aspling):
- Participated in a webinar and learned that NHRA is on track for workforce readiness initiatives.
- Judy would like to speak at the next educational meeting to mention the different things people can do regarding workforce readiness; and
to also remind members to send her a notice when they attend job fairs or any other things related to workforce readiness.
Continuing Business:
- Sandy mentioned that she contacted SHRM regarding using some of their articles for the NHRA HR section. Jen Mencl had done it this
way in the past; however, SHRM said they weren't comfortable with this. Sandy will contact Jen to find out how we obtained permission
previously.
- 2010 State Conference Update: Received over 150 proposals for speakers and has been narrowed down to 50. The website is 95% done.
An email will go out to vendors next week. Discussed the idea of a wellness walk one of the mornings from 6 to 6:30. Maybe SMDC
would sponsor?
