Treasurer's Report (Pam Grover):
Treasurer reports were approved.
College Relations (Heather Duval absent)
Community Involvement (Tracy Larsen and Steve Korby):
The golf outing went well. There were 21 players, 6 teams and 7 hole sponsors. A $700 check will be presented to the food bank at the
fall conference. A thank you will be sent to the hole sponsors and door prize donators, signed by Wayne.
Diversity (Linda Olcott absent)
HRCI Certification (Kathy Chalupsky):
Not meeting in the summer; 2 new prospects for fall.
Membership (Terri McGillvrey):
- Contacted Duluth Chamber for details on hosting a Business After Hours meeting: The cost is $300 and the August meeting will be held at the Black Bear Casino. With the cost and other issues taken into consideration, the board decided not to participate in this at this time.
- State Conference: Five people have volunteered for a committee to determine keynote speakers and breakout session speakers. Host hotels will donate some lodging; in regard to promotional brochures, JobDig was used previously and some local options can be researched. Terri will be touring the facility for the conference on 8/8/09 in Rochester.
Legislative and Government Affairs (Wayne Lindberg):
A number of letters have been sent through the SHRM website. Wayne suggested that we get a legislative representative to present at a
meeting next year.
Marketing (Patricia Stolee):
Promoted the golf event, conference committee, update website, and audit email addresses.
Professional Development (Laurie Pinther):
- November is SWOT Analysis; Laurie is working on filling the fall calendar for speakers and has a few leads.
- Fall Conference: Should have 3 or 4 strategic credits; the Fall Conference will be held on 9/30/09 at the Inn on Lake Superior.
Patricia will send a "save the date".
Workforce Readiness (Judy Aspling):
Judy has a lead for a speaker on workforce readiness.
New Business:
- Start succession planning for next year.
- State conference basket: Laurie volunteered to put the basket together again this year.
- SHRM National Conference: In the past, SHRM has paid for the conference and hotel for the NHRA President and President-elect.
It's unclear right now if they will do this again this year.
Adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
