New Business:
Discussion on scheduling strategic planning retreat - Kathy will send an email to the board with the options for
August 12 or August 13 for the retreat meeting and will schedule the meeting for the day that works best for the
most people.
Financial Report: (Laurie Pinther):
It was noted that there were larger expenses on the financials due to the leadership conference. A new account was
created for the social event. Laurie will send the reports before the board meeting so that everyone has the
opportunity to review them. Kim motioned to approve the financial reports and Heather seconded.
Past President Report and Professional Development: (Kim Burke):
Kim set up a presenter from Spherion on the Emerging Workforce for the November meeting. The
discussion will be regarding workforce mindset and emerging trends. Kim and Kathy will look into
getting credits for the meeting. Kim is also planning to contact the previous no show to reschedule for
the December meeting.
Community Relations: (Terri McGillvrey absent)
College Relations (Jennifer Mencl absent)
Membership (Heather Turcotte):
Of the people who have yet to pay dues, it's been found that most of them are no longer interested in
being members of NHRA.
Legislative Affairs (Wayne Lindberg):
Get out the Vote - SHRM is sponsoring a "Get out the Vote" campaign. The information will be added
to the newsletter and a link added to the website. It is to offer tools for HR managers to help them
promote voting.
NHRA Fall Conference - Wayne and his planning team are looking for more speakers and trying to
partner with Northland Works. They're also waiting to hear from the EEOC. He has asked for
suggestions for topics and speakers.
Golf Outing (Steve Korby):
Four teams have signed up so far. Patricia is sending a flier to members about the outing. Assistance is needed
with door prizes. Patricia will send an email asking for sponsors and door prizes. One prize idea was to give a
registration for the NHRA fall conference as a prize or registration to next year's golf outing or free membership
for next year.
Marketing Report (Patricia Stolee):
We had a good turnout for the joint meeting; about 45 attended. It was listed in the Duluth News
Tribune. Patricia is getting the golf promotion out and giving options for payment. Tracy Larsen will
email the meeting minutes for April and Wendy will email the meeting minutes for May. Patricia will
post them.
Other Business:
- Liability Insurance - Terri reported on liability insurance but didn't have much luck. Patricia doesn't
think we need it but will check with Larry and other chapters.
- Review of books - Laurie made calls and found out that Paul Paczinski was the previous CPA. She will
talk to him to see what the price would be.
- List of board members - Patricia will send a list of board members for inclusion in their general liability
policy.
Meeting adjourned.
