|
Treasurer's Report (Pam Grover):
- Sheraton: Wayne contacted Sandy Shea via phone regarding the Sheraton's $500 donation to the 2008 Fall Conference and was told that the person who made the commitment was no longer with the Sheraton and they wouldn't be able to honor this donation.
- PayPal: It was confirmed that it was agreed last month to move $10,000 out of PayPal and transfer into our savings at US Bank and then purchase a COD. Pam can move forward with this transfer.
College Relations (Heather Duval):
The board reviewed and voted on the two applicants who applied for the NHRA scholarship. Upon the discussion and vote, it was decided that Scott Skalko will be the recipient of the $500 scholarship. Heather will work on putting together guidelines and a spreadsheet to help with the selection next year.
Community Involvement (Tracy Larsen - Steve Korby absent):
- The workforce center is holding mock interviews on April 21st from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and only have 4 volunteers signed up. Another email will be sent to see if we can get additional volunteers.
- Mock interviews were held at Fond du Lac College last Tuesday for community involvement.
- The golf outing has been set for July 13, 2009 in Proctor. A motion was made and approved that the donation from the outing will go to the Second Harvest Food Shelf. Patricia will let the Food Shelf know about the donation coming in July.
Diversity (Linda Olcott):
Inez Wildwood, from Minnesota Power, will be the presenter at the May 2009 meeting.
HRCI Certification (Kathy Chalupsky):
Kathy is working on setting up the study group for certification. Five have confirmed and study
nights and times are being set.
Legislative and Government Affairs (Wayne Lindberg):
Wayne didn't have any updates for the group.
Marketing (Patricia Stolee:
- The NHRA Board was in the Duluthian magazine.
- Patricia will get more SHRM brochures printed.
- Patricia was interviewed for the Duluthian regarding bullying in the workplace.
Membership (Terri McGillvrey):
- Terri is sending a letter to SHRM to get approval to send a letter to our at-large members;
- Last year, there were 60 SHRM members from NHRA and this year, we're on the same track;
- Regarding the booth that was discussed at last month's meeting: tablecloths cost around $300. Since we don't have anything coming up in the near future, we'll put it on hold.
- Terry will be reviewing an orientation on the SHRM website for new board members. It will be added to our website under the "board" area.
- Terry sent an email to find out if any members have canceled their membership.
Professional Development (Laurie Pinther):
- Meetings are set for the next few months. April will be the UMD Student SHRM Chapter
presentation, May will be Inez Wildwood on Diversity, June is the ASTD-hosted joint meeting on Speed
Networking, July and August there will be no meeting, October, November and December are to be
determined.
- An email will be sent for the fall conference asking for volunteers. We will shoot for a 6-hour
day for the conference and go from there. It will be at the Inn on Lake Superior.
Other Business:
- HR Games donation: A motion was made and approved to donate $200 for the regional HR Games.
- LSALMA Training Schedule: Patricia will check regarding the training schedule for LSALMA and if
NHRA members would get a discount.
- American National Standards Institute (ANSI): SHRM will be the only sole standards developer for
the human resources standards.
