|
Treasurer's Report (Pam Grover):
- Pam is still working on Paypal.
- Typo in last month's Treasurer's Report has been corrected.
College Relations (Heather Duval absent):
Community Involvement (Steve Korby and Tracy Larsen):
- We had 9 sponsors for the golf tournament last year at $50 each. We'd like to find the same for
this year. The money raised goes to Second Harvest. Patricia will send an email. It was suggested
that an email be sent to the sponsors from last year to see if they'd be interested in donating again
this year.
- The registration form for the golf outing is on the website and it will be set up on Paypal. The
golf outing is on July 13 at Proctor.
- Mock interviews went well.
Diversity (Linda Olcott):
Diversity was the topic of NHRA's May 12th meeting. Despite technical problems, we received positive
feedback on this presentation.
HRCI Certification (Kathy Chalupsky):
- Within the study group, no one is taking the test in the spring. Study sessions will start again
in the fall.
- Kathy received a recertification for 2009 CD from SHRM. It was suggested that we play the CD at
the next meeting.
Membership (Terri McGillvrey out):
- Wayne received a letter from SHRM discussing the promotion detail for membership in SHRM for a
$50 discount. Patricia will send it. It includes helpful links as well.
- Terri is on the state committee for 2010 and they're looking for a theme.
Legislative and Government Affairs (Wayne Lindberg):
- The Free Choice Act continues to be a hot topic.
- Wayne attended a LSALMA presentation regarding health care. Bill Embree was the speaker. Wayne
thought he may be a good speaker for one of our meetings or for the fall conference.
Marketing (Patricia Stolee:
- Press releases for the May meeting.
- Website updates and hotline updates
- Jen Mencl and Patricia were interviewed for the Duluthian magazine.
- Patricia will send information out regarding the "Best Places to Work" campaign.
Professional Development (Laurie Pinther):
- Attendees at the May meeting completed a survey and from the survey, we got about 10 ideas for
future topics.
- Fall Conference: The committee includes Laurie, Wayne, Kathy and Neil from Northshore Mining.
The conference will tentatively be scheduled for 9/30 at the Inn on Lake Superior.
- A motion was made and approved to add $2000 to the budget to cover for the fall conference if needed.
- Additional volunteers are needed to help with the fall conference.
Continuing Business:
Other Business:
- Heather is working on the scholarship rating form.
- Patricia suggested that we modify the tag line on the NHRA website to show more what we do.
She'll be working on something and bring it to the board.
- A motion was made and approved to form a Workforce Readiness Committee, with Judy as the chair.
Adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
